Boys' Brigade
Find out how the school nurtures responsible and resilient young leaders through meaningful Boys' Brigade experiences that develop character, leadership and a heart for service.
CCA Overview
The Boys Brigade 78 Junior Singapore Company (BB78J) develops boys into responsible and respectful individuals through physical, educational, social, and exemplary growth programmes.
Our Boys participate in three national competitions: The BB Week Competition for creative learning on how to do fund raising for good purposes (as in this case, for BB78J’s yearly activities needs), The JP Adventure Quest (AQ) for outdoor survival skills and also creative problem-solving, and the JP Character Quest (CQ) for applying moral values through practical activities.
Weekly parades and annual camp engage our Boys in games, outdoor cooking, and leadership training, fostering essential life skills, strong friendships as well as independence — able to take care of their own responsibilities. Through community service projects like BB Cares and BB Share-A-Gift, they learn to appreciate what they have and also be aware/understand and serve the less fortunate in society.
The various activities and camp throughout the year provide platforms for interaction, personal development, getting to know one another in BB78J, fostering mutual care and support as a BB family, and thus contributing to their growth as well-rounded individuals.
In all our activities, we try to encourage the Boys’ parents to work together with the officers for the benefits of their sons. BB78J believes that the success of this CCA happens only when parents works closely with the officers in developing their sons to achieve the four areas of development, i.e. physical, educational, social, and exemplary growth programmes, when they stay with us from P3 through P6. Throughout the year, Boys’ leadership skills and character are observed and they are encouraged to take up more responsibilities to be good leaders, with integrity. Failures are part of the learning process, determination and resilience are encouraged.

Celebrating our students' achievements
Commemoration of BB Day [12 January 1930] 2024, 2025, 2026 (S1T1)
Each year, we thank YTPS for giving BB the air time to introduce the BB CCA to the schools who has BB in one of their CCAs. The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore has been around for 96 years. Generation after generations of leaders in Singapore have benefitted from this CCA. We sincerely hope that this CCA will continue to serve the nation in training future leaders to lead Singapore into greater prosperity and progress.
JPAQ•2024, 2025, 2026 [Junior Programme Adventure Quest Competition (JPAQ)]
[S1T2]
The JPAQ primarily focuses on the outdoor survival skills training. The Boys are trained in rope works, outdoor cooking, tent pitching, basic first-aid skills, map reading, and most importantly, team work. Usually, the competition is carried out in a park. Boys are required to move from stations to stations in the competition. Compared to the rest of the competition, this, perhaps, is a physically more demanding competition.
78J Enrolment Service 2023, 2024, 2025 [S1T2]
This annual Enrolment Service is meant to welcome back the current Boys [P4, P5 & P6] as well as welcoming our new recruits [P3]. Parents are also invited to this event so that they are aware of the various activities carried out during the academic year. This short and meaningful event is concluded with a simple refreshment.
National Day Parade Flag Party 2024, 2025, 2026 [S2T3]
BB78J Coy is grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate on the National Day Parade Flag-Party for the National Day celebration at YTPS. This is the proudest moment of the 78J Coy where the whole school witness our Boys doing the flag raising process. Usually, the P4s and P5s are assign these task, and many of them grew in their confidence and leadership determination through the training.
It is also during this time when the Boys are trained to do drills, to know their national anthem, not only singing and pronouncing the text correctly but also to know the meaning of the lyrics, composers and background etc.
BB Carnival 2025 [S2T3]
In celebrating the 95th Anniversary of The Boys’ Brigade in Singapore, JPCQ•2026 was replaced by (95th Anniversary Carnival and Celebration. In this events, the Boys together with their family members were invited to the carnival to have a time of getting to know other BB Companies and also have their own family time. There were many games and also few parents’ talk programme during the carnival.
JPCQ•2022, 2023, 2024 [Junior Programme Character Quest Competition (JPCQ)]
[S2T3]
JPCQ concentrates more on the character development of the participants involved. This is the time where some of the School Values, e.g. Integrity, Responsibility, Care etc. are made alive through character studies. The competition focus more on activities than theories where team work, problem solving are incorporated in the various games designed in the competition.
BB C.A.R.E.S. 2022, 2023, 2024 [S2T3]
BB Cares basically means, Community Activities Rallying Everyone to Serve. This is the time where emphasis on the awareness of our surroundings, looking outward and seeking to help the less fortunate people in Singapore. We engage the Fei Yue Active Ageing group, where the Boys interact with the elderly, play games with them, and try to communicate with them while they work on an art project. At the end of this programme, parents were given a list of casual debrief/processing chat questions where they could used to communicate with their sons as he reflects on the event. This event is only attended by the Boys.
BB Share-A-Gift 2023, 2024, 2025 [S2T4]
BB Share-A-Gift is raising funds by filling up two BBSaG bags and then delivering them to the assigned contacts — residents of Limbang Meadows. The beneficiaries were given to us by BBHQ. The purchase of the goods are normally donated by the members of the sponsoring church — Hebron BP Church. A few of the parents also offered to sponsor from time to time voluntarily. The good thing about this event is that Parents and even the Boy’s siblings are all invited to participate in distributing the BBSaG bags to the families. At the end of this programme, parents were also given a list of casual debrief/processing chat questions where they could used to communicate with their sons as they reflects on the event.
Outings during Year-End Camp; 2025. [S2T4]
Usually, we try to arrange 2 outings each year. we will do hiking as well as special programme during outing. In 2025, we had the first outing ever allowed after the Covid Pandemic situation. The Boys and officers had a great time hiking through a stretch of green areas and played with the Lalang Grass. Basically, in any outings that we have, we want the Boys to be more observant of their surroundings/neighbourhood. The park connectors are good places for our outings.
Annual Year-End Day Camp 2023, 2024, 2025 [S2T4]
Besides having special programme during our camps, we also invited the parents to have moments of outdoor-cooking activities with their sons. The Boys learnt how to set up the fire safely, use mass tins and cook and enjoy their cooking together with their parents. Besides, we also engage the parents to give out the achievement badges to the Boys. The officers and parents (without the presence of the Boys) also have a session discussing on the importance of parental involvement in developing their sons together with the officers.
regular Squad Time
Squad time is the time where the Boys further learn how to apply all the school values one Squad at a time. They learn the definitions of these values and more importantly, they also learn what these values mean in their lives. Apart from the school values, they also learn civic/character development.
sporadic Sporting/Games Activities
In order to make BB78J a more fun and learning CCA, we have sporting/games activities when time allows. These activities are important in order to develop good friendship among the Boys from different level. Through such activities, they learn and know more about themselves and also their friends.
